Top Navigation and Maps Apps in Portugal: Q4 2024 iOS Performance

The fourth quarter of 2024 saw interesting trends among the top navigation and maps applications on iOS in Portugal. Based on data from Sensor Tower, we can observe varying patterns in downloads and active user engagement across these apps.

Waze Navigation & Live Traffic maintained a strong presence in the market. Weekly downloads peaked at approximately 18.4K in late October, while the app consistently engaged over 500K active users weekly, reaching a high of around 571K at the start of November.

Google Maps demonstrated steady performance, with weekly downloads fluctuating between 6.3K and 8.6K. Active users saw a slight decrease over the quarter, starting at around 910K and closing at approximately 807K.

Via Verde experienced growth in user engagement, with weekly downloads increasing towards the end of the quarter, hitting a peak of about 4.6K mid-December. Active users also showed an upward trend, rising from around 39K to over 53K by the end of December.

Google Earth maintained a stable download rate, with weekly figures ranging from 1.4K to 1.8K. Active user numbers remained relatively consistent, despite a mid-quarter dip, ending with approximately 19.8K users.

Finally, Carris saw a decline in downloads from 1.3K at the beginning of October to around 483 by the end of December. Active user numbers also decreased slightly, from 3.5K to about 3.1K.
